Pilgrim: A Japanese - Australian Art Journey
1 November - 21 November 2024
Salisbury Community Hub - John Harvey Community Hall
Pilgrim is a cross-cultural fine art collaboration between photographer, Peter Hall, and Japanese-Australian twins, Lisa and Erica Hoy. Pilgrim visually interprets the first five years of the sisters’ journey in Australia.
The sisters and torii are photographed in South Australia in a diverse range of Aboriginal lands with each scene capturing some of the cultural, social, and environmental discoveries on their journey. Each image provides a visual metaphor for the sisters’ emotions at points along the way. Like many good tales, Pilgrim blends fact and fiction, past, present, and future, with the project itself providing a central point of learning and discovery for Lisa and Erica.
Thin Ice – VR Experience
12 February – 30 March 2025
Salisbury Community Hub – John Harvey Community Hall
Thin Ice VR is a 23-minute historical re-creation documentary VR experience presented by Tim Jarvis AM.
In 1914, polar explorer Sir Ernest Shackleton led one of history’s greatest stories of leadership and survival; the ill-fated Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition. Over 100 years later we follow in the footsteps of Shackleton with Tim Jarvis AM, experiencing the adventure first-hand to see the affect climate change has had on the Antarctic region through immersive VR.
Recommend for 12 years and up.
