What are Diversitours?
Diversitours offer one-of-a-kind tours of Salisbury, that go beyond typical sightseeing by providing an authentic, culturally rich experience of your local neighbourhood.

Registrations of interest to become a Diversitours guide are now open. If you are interested in tourism, discovering your local area and its rich cultural diversity, we want to hear from you!
The role of a Diversitours guide is not only about sharing information; it's about providing an experience that stays in the memory of visitors, helping to reinforce the positive experience of businesses, cultural, language and religious diversity in the City of Salisbury.
Diversitours guides have a key role in showcasing the people, businesses, not-for-profits, places of worship, landmarks and products of the City of Salisbury to local residents and visitors by leading walking tours in the City.
We welcome the community to apply and be part of the very first team in Australia to run the tours right in the heart of Salisbury.
What do Diversitours guides do?
Tour guides lead walking tours focused on culture, business, charities, landmarks, languages and places of worship within a City. For the first time ever in Australia, the City of Salisbury will be offering the tours in the neighbourhood from March 2025. The role of the guides - to tell the story of the City, its diverse culture, people, and why it is a great place to live, work and play.
Selected guides will receive free training to prepare in the lead up to. Arming each selected individual with the knowledge to tell the story of Salisbury to visitors and local residents.
The first tour will start in the central business district around John Street and over time additional walking tours will be added.
Apply to become a Diversitours tour guide
10 people will be selected to become the first Diversitours guides in Australia. Every selected guide will be paid for the role.
Who can apply?
Anyone over the age of 18 who lives in Salisbury can apply.
This includes people who:
- Were born in Australia
- Born overseas
- Are First Nations
- May have a disability or not
- May identify as part of the LGBTQIA+ community
Who have:
- The confidence and ability to talk with all types of people
- A passion for helping people learn about culture, migration and First Nations
- An in-depth knowledge of Salisbury - or the ability to learn
- Good organisational and time management skills
- Enthusiasm, a great sense of humour and lots of positive energy
- A focus on making sure tour guests are safe and feel comfortable and included
- Flexibility and problem-solving skills
- IELTS level 6 or above English fluency
- Life experience
Why should you apply to become a guide?
Becoming a Diversitours guide provides you with the opportunity to:
- Showcase the heart and soul of the City of Salisbury
- Showcase the social, economic, historical, First Nations and migration experience of individuals, families and communities in the City of Salisbury
- Promote Salisbury businesses, events and landmarks to visitors
- Work around when you're available each week - this is a contracted role and suitable for a person with an ABN or ability to get an ABN so you can decide your own working time
- Opportunity for ongoing individual and group mentoring
- Participate in tour guide training and intercultural community development (some training is subsidised)
- Help to grow a new and important local intercultural initiative in your own community
- Create relationships with the City of Salisbury, other Diversitours guides, local businesses and residents and tour guide organisations
