StoryWalk® at the Kaurna Wetlands

Join us for a day of reading, walking and connecting with nature by going on a StoryWalk® featuring Footprint by Phil Cummings!

Choose from one of our two sessions. Each session will consist of a group walk through the wetlands lead by one of our wonderful staff who will be reading “Footprint” by Phil Cummings aloud as the group progresses along the trail followed by a special workshop and craft session back at the Burton Community Hub.

Microscopic Exploration @ Mawson

Join us at Mawson Lakes Library for a fascinating look at the world around us on the microscopic size. Learn the basics of using microscopes, including adjusting the microscope zoom and focus, then write, draw or scrapbook your finds to take home. This activity event is perfect for nature enthusiasts of all age - no prior experience is required!

Nature Journaling with Zinia King @ PHCH

Cost: $5 per session

Join artist Zinia King for a whimsical session in the Para Hills Community Hub community garden where you will learn about nature journaling, enjoy the sunshine, and have a lot of fun! Materials supplied.

Children must be supervised for this event. Parents/caregivers do not need to purchase a ticket.

There are two sessions for this event. Please only book one session to allow as many people as possible to enjoy this activity!

Back by popular demand, the Bibliotrek Nature Explorers Program is returning to the City of Salisbury Libraries these school holidays! From Monday 30 September to Sunday 13 October, kids can pick up their FREE nature kit (only available to City of Salisbury residents). From there, they can dive into exciting nature-based activities, visit critter displays, and tackle a nature trail challenge all whilst exploring their local libraries.

Nature Garden 3D Printing Workshop​

Tuesday 1 October

Burton Community Hub (Tech Lab)

Ages: 8 to 14 years (children under 13 years require adult supervision during this activity)

Cost: $5 per session

Join our nature garden workshop and learn the skills of 3D modelling and printing, with a nature twist. Get ready to turn your imagination into a 3D reality as you design and create your own herb garden marker, perfect for a budding gardener's herb garden!​

Herb garden markers will be printed and ready for collection from Friday 11 October at the Burton Community Hub.

No prior experience needed, both sessions include the same content.

Sensory Magic with Ebony

Join our one-hour sensory session, packed with fun, messy play activities like ice cream shop creations, play dough pizza-making, spaghetti and meatballs, and more! Little ones can explore taste-safe sensory activities while developing creativity, fine motor skills, and hand-eye coordination. It's a fun, safe environment where they learn about the world around them through play.

Story Time on the Lawn

Come join us as we dive into the world of two well-loved Australian stories Wombat Stew by Marcia K Vaughan and Garden Stew by Carrie Gallasch. Bring your rug and curl up while listening to these charming tales of Australian nature. Join in on a scavenger hunt before heading inside the library to create your very own paper pot of stew to take home.

Microscopic Nature Exploration @ PHCH

Wednesday 2 October

Para Hills Community Hub (rooms 4 and 5)

Ages: 7 to 13 years (children under 12 should be accompanied by an adult during the session)

Cost: FREE

In this one-hour workshop we will get microscopic using hand-held microscopes compatible with the camera app on a smart phone or tablet. Learn the basics of using microscopes, including adjusting the microscope zoom and focus, and taking photos of your discoveries. We will explore the community garden at PHCH, gathering various samples to investigate.

One microscope and one iPad mini per ticket holder will be available for use in the session, although participants are welcome to bring and use their own device.
Parents/caregivers are welcome to join in the session with their ticketed child. No prior experience is necessary.

Join us for a two-day workshop where you will speak to businesses owners, work on your resumes, cover letters and interview skills on day 1 followed by RSA accreditation on day 2.

Calling all Jedi's! May the force be with you!

Saber Academy come-and-try is on again this October holidays. The program combines beginner friendly Aikido and Kenjutsu techniques using lightsabers.

Learn Lightsaber duelling, stunt choreography and kenjutsu, facilitated by Mikhayl Sensei with Saber Academy. Parents are welcome to join in!

Join us for a fun-filled Pot Painting and Succulent Planting program this school holiday! Kids will unleash their creativity by decorating their very own flower pots with vibrant colors and whimsical designs. Once their masterpieces are dry, they'll plant easy-care succulents, learning about these resilient plants as they create their mini-gardens. It’s a perfect blend of art and nature, and a great way for children to express themselves while gaining a green thumb. At the end of the program, each child will take home a beautiful, personalized pot complete with their new succulent friend, ready to brighten up any space!

Intro to Karate Sessions

Join Karate World Champion Sensei Chloe Pillay (3rd Dan SKIF/WKF , CPTKI) for an informative and fun introduction to karate and self-defense basics. We will begin the session with karate stances, punches and blocks . These skills form the basis of the self-defense tools we will cover. Further techniques, such as using your voice as a tool for self-defense and simple, effective techniques to protect yourself against armed attackers will also be covered. We end the program with a recap and consolidation of all the new skills learnt.

In addition to learning how to defend yourself, Karate teaches students of all ages to build confidence, improve self-control, build strength, boost focus, improve street awareness, teaches respect, goal setting, perseverance, builds discipline, and improves balance, posture and coordination.

Mindfulness Calm Down Jar Workshop

This workshop will aim to give children one technique to help them slow down and manage their big feelings. The calm down jar is a visual sensory experience that encourages mindfulness and can help children regulate their emotions.

Children will get a chance to make their own glitter calm down jar that they can take home, to school or wherever they need! These jars can be used anytime your child feels like they need a calming moment.
