Neighbourhood Meet and Greet on Your Street
The City of Salisbury is pleased to provide support to residents who want to get to know their neighbours better and plan gatherings or projects in their neighbourhood.
Neighbourhood gatherings help bring communities together and give everyone a chance to meet the people who live around them. They can be a lot of fun and a great way for people to connect and in some cases reconnect. Providing an opportunity to get to know your neighbour’s name, give a friendly wave and hello, it is a great start to build and strengthen relationships.
Our staff can offer practical support such as invitations, information on programs at community centres, and light refreshments.

Neighbour Day
Neighbours Every Day is Australia’s national campaign to celebrate and connect community with the aim to bring people together across their streets and neighbourhoods and help address loneliness across our communities.
In recent years, the City of Salisbury has supported residents to strengthen their connections with their next-door neighbours and across their communities in a variety of ways to celebrate Neighbour Day. Neighbour Day takes place annually on the last Sunday in March with the next taking place on Sunday 30 March 2025.
It can be as easy as:
- Saying hello to your Neighbours
- Having a BBQ, picnic or shared meal
- Catching up at a local café for a cuppa
- Delivering care packages
- Start a walking / dog walking group
- Create a neighbourhood network for sharing resources such as a little library of books, DIY and garden tools, camping or sports equipment, or fruit/veggie swap.
