The Jack Young Centre (JYC) is a friendly, welcoming and accessible leisure centre for older people. The purpose-built facilities are fully accessible, offering a unique blend of programs, activities and services.
Getting there
The Jack Young Centre is two-minute walk from the Salisbury Interchange. A number of bus and train routes service this Interchange. A car park is available for Members' use. For details about public transport services and current timetables please visit the Adelaide Metro website.
Weekly program
At JYC, we offer an extensive variety of programs and activities aimed at keeping our members active, engaged, and socially connected. From fitness classes and arts and crafts to educational workshops, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Our programs are designed to cater to a wide range of interests and abilities, ensuring that every member feels included and valued.

Meals at the Jack Young Centre
Jack's Café is renowned for its freshly prepared nutritious, affordable and tasty meals including traditional home-cooked style meals, soups and desserts.
Whether you prefer to dine in, take away, or grab something quick, we offer a variety of meal options from Monday to Friday.
Dine-In Service
- Hours: Dine-in is available from 12 to 1 pm, Monday to Friday.
- How to Book: Pre-order and reserve your meal by calling 8406 8525 between 8.30 and 11.30 am on the same day.

Take-Away Meals
- Fresh take-away meals are available Monday to Friday. You can pre-order from the dine-in menu or select from our specials.
- Same-Day Pickup: Call before 11.30 am, and pick up your meal between 12.30 and 2 pm.

Frozen Meals
- Hours: Frozen meals are available for pickup from 10 am to 2 pm, weekdays.
- Eligibility: Available to Salisbury Senior Members or vulnerable individuals aged 65+ (or their representatives).
- Pre-Orders: Pre-order up to a week’s worth of frozen meals by calling the centre. Meals can be collected during regular hours or by arranging an alternate pickup time.
Grab-and-Go Options
If you’re on the move, Jack’s Café also offers convenient grab-and-go items, including:
- Sandwiches: $4 each
- Coffee, biscuits, sweets, and savoury items: starting from $2.50
Pricing and Payment
- Dine-In Meals: $8 for subsidised customers with a My Aged Care referral, and $10 for non-subsidised customers.
- Soups and Desserts: $3.50 each.
- Take-Away Containers: A 50-cent fee applies for take-away containers.
- Please bring the correct change or use our tap-and-go payment option for convenience.

Membership at Seniors Centres
Becoming a member at our seniors centres provides you access to a range of programs, activities, and communal spaces across multiple locations:
- Jack Young Centre - 2 Orange Ave, Salisbury
- Para Hills Seniors Centre (located within Para Hills Community Hub) - 22 Wilkinson Rd, Para Hills
- Pine Lakes Centre - 16 Homestead Place, Parafield Gardens
- Burton Communal Garden (located within Burton Community Hub) - 380 Waterloo Corner Rd, Burton
Membership is free, and all new visitors are welcome to try out activities before committing—your first session is on us!
Member Benefits
- Subsidised Meals and Activities: If you are aged 65+ and registered with My Aged Care, you are eligible for subsidised meals and activities at our centres.
- Affordable Participation: Although membership is free, participants pay a small weekly fee of $3 to $10, depending on the program, to help cover costs.
- Flexibility: For those requiring additional support, such as a carer or assistant, they are welcome to join you to ensure you can fully participate in activities. Agency workers referring clients should coordinate with our Wellbeing Programs Coordinator on 8406 8251 for a seamless referral process.
Non-Members Welcome!
Even if you’re not a member, you can still enjoy fresh take-away or frozen meals from Jack's Café at the Jack Young Centre. It’s a great way to stay connected with the community and enjoy healthy, convenient meal options.
