UN convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities
The United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities was ratified by the Australian Government in July 2008. That means all Australian Governments (Federal, State, Territory and local) have to make their laws, services and programs align with the rights listed in the Convention.

National Disability Strategy 2010 – 2020
The 'NDS' was released as the Council of Australian governments (COAG) response to the UN Convention on the rights of Persons with Disabilities in February 2011. COAG includes the Australian Local Government Association. You can get updates on the National disability Strategy website.
The National Disability Strategy is to be replaced by a new framework during 2021.
