Active Aging Tips
Channel 9 recently covered two stories on key active aging topics relating to falls prevention and exercising at home for older people.
Recently the Active Ageing Australia team (who the City of Salisbury work closely with) featured in two stories on the TV program Outdoors Indoors, a South Australian produced TV show hosted by Kim Syrus. Many of you would be aware that Kim was our special guest speaker at our recent Men’s Health Week event at the Jack Young Centre. The falls prevention story highlighted the experience of Pat, an older South Australian woman who, like so many older Australians, wants to stay active and independent but has recently had some falls.
The Active Ageing Australia Occupational therapist talked about the importance of falls prevention and steps that you can take at any age to help yourself or loved ones. In the exercising at home for older people story the Active Ageing Australia Education & Training Coordinator Kay MacKenzie teaches Kim important exercises for strength and balance. Kay also explains why exercising at home has many great benefits for older people.
