Salisbury Intercultural Community Alliance
The Salisbury Intercultural Community Alliance (SICA) is a network of community members who help Salisbury implement its Intercultural Strategic Plan.
Interculturalism is understood as moving beyond multiculturalism; which is the passive acceptance of different cultures, to embracing the interaction of people from all cultures, including First Nations people, people born in Australia, and migrants. The Intercultural Plan outlines the directions that the Council will take to become a better place for people of all cultural backgrounds.
SICA provides a valuable community perspective to help Council become an Intercultural City, by having input on:
- Advocacy and partnerships
- Communication. engagement and participation
- Recognition, celebration and events
- Services and programs
- Council’s internal capacity
