Salisbury Aquatic Centre almost ready to make a splash!
Anticipation grows as exciting progress is being made at the new Salisbury Aquatic Centre site, with the installation of the kids' splash pad and waterplay area nearing completion.
The splash pad will provide the perfect play area for the kids, featuring a tipping bucket, three slides, surrounding water sprinklers and other water play areas, as well as a canopy overhead to keep the area shaded even on the hottest of days.
Next to the splash pad is the impressive and colourful 10-metre-high triple water slide tower, which is now complete, with a shade sail to go over the tower in progress.
The City of Salisbury’s Mayor Gillian Aldridge OAM has seen the space, and is looking forward to seeing the community enjoy it.
‘The Salisbury Aquatic Centre development is coming along beautifully. Walking around the site, you can already envision how much fun the local families will have there, and how it will benefit the whole community to have everything they need in the one space.
‘Swimming facilities, lessons and programs, accessibility, a gym, huge water slides, a splash pad play area, food and beverages, and a lawn area. It doesn’t get much better than that,’ said the Mayor.
Tiling is nearly complete on the 50-metre, 8 lane, outdoor pool. The indoor 25-metre pool and program pool complete with access ramp are complete, and other indoor facilities, including, fitness gym and change rooms are well underway.
Over the coming months, more progress will be made on the site including landscaping, the completion of the new tennis club rooms, new carpark and road resurfacing. The centre will be accessible, inclusive, and cater for aquatic activity year-round, making it a can’t-miss attraction in the north.
It will feature a full café indoors, and a seasonal kiosk outside near the splash pad and slides for quick access to delicious summer treats. Inside, a fully equipped gym overlooking the outdoor pool will provide an all-round fitness experience.
