City of Salisbury Wins Diversity in Development Award

The City of Salisbury has been honoured with the Diversity in Development Award for the Cohesive Salisbury initiative at the 2024 UDIA Awards for Excellence.

This prestigious award reflects the City of Salisbury's longstanding commitment to supporting a diverse community and workforce, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to thrive. It recognises the ongoing efforts to enhance access to social infrastructure and highlights the success of Council's diversity and inclusion policies and strategies.

The City of Salisbury extends heartfelt thanks to the Urban Development Institute of Australia for this recognition, and to the UDIA SA for organising the awards and spotlighting the importance of diversity and inclusion in development.

In today’s world, communities and workforces are more diverse than ever—in age, ethnicity, disability, gender, sexual orientation, religion, and more. Understanding and embracing this diversity is vital to delivering outstanding built environment and social outcomes that meet the needs of the community.

For over 15 years, the City of Salisbury has been on a journey of continuous improvement and culture change. Policies have been developed and practices implemented that embed diversity into the fabric of the organisation. This approach is integral to Council’s 2035 City Plan.

This award acknowledges the incredible work of staff across the organisation and their ongoing dedication to the diverse Salisbury community.

Council also extends its gratitude to the many community leaders and members who have engaged in the journey of diversity and inclusion at the City of Salisbury.
