Lights at Mawson returns bigger and brighter

Following last year’s resounding success, the City of Salisbury are proud to have delivered an even bigger, brighter and more immersive Lights at Mawson event this year.

From Friday 12 until Sunday 14 July, this free community event transformed the main lake at Mawson Lakes into a spectacle of light and artistry. Illuminated installations, pop-up entertainers, and live acoustic music captivated local community members and visitors.

Mayor Gillian Aldridge OAM expressed her support for the event, highlighting cost-effectiveness for the community.

We’re thrilled about the return of Lights at Mawson because it provided our local community with an incredible experience that was free and so close to home. It was a weekend full of family-friendly entertainment that offered a whimsical journey through light, colour, and abstract art.

This year, visitors found familiar themes in an all new experience, featuring a giant AirLume installation from Illuminart and new Nylon Zoo inflatable animals from the internationally acclaimed textile artist and eco-friendly storyteller Evelyn Roth.

AirLume has become renowned for its ability to enchant audiences of all ages with its intricate combination of light and sound. The sculpture stands over 8 metres cubed and glows inside and out, offering a unique sensory experience.

Abstract shapes towered overhead in a mesmerising display that could be walked past and through, providing an enchanting and inclusive experience for the senses.

Visitors enjoyed thrilling performances from LED dancers and fire twirlers, and delicious meal options along Main Street and Mawson Lakes Boulevard. To ensure comfort, designated areas featured gas heaters for guests to stay warm while enjoying the ambience.

A free community event perfect for all ages, Lights at Mawson reflected the City's commitment to inclusivity and accessibility, while stimulating local community and business interest.
