Shop local for a stronger Salisbury

This festive season, the City of Salisbury is encouraging residents and visitors to shop locally to support the City’s small businesses, shopping precincts, and major retail centres.

In December 2023, $224 million was spent by residents and visitors across the council area, while $273 million was spent online*.

Diverting even 10 per cent of that to local spending will provide a significant economic boost.

Salisbury is home to a diverse range of stores and businesses that form the heart of the community, driven by local families and workers who are essential to their success. This is complemented by large shopping centres and the District outlet centre at Parafield, providing a range of options for shoppers across the council area.

By shopping locally, residents help sustain local businesses and create jobs.

Shopping locally is more than just a convenience – it’s an investment in the community.

Every purchase made in the City of Salisbury supports local businesses, workers, job opportunities, and the broader economy.

It also leads to deeper community connections, helping the City and local community thrive.

Mayor Gillian Aldridge OAM

The campaign is part of Council’s economic development commitment to support local businesses and increase local prosperity.
