Vincent Fantauzzo ‘Unveiled’ at Salisbury Community Hub

Where might a young man find the inspiration and focus to transform from a dysfunctional existence as a street-fighting petty criminal into a purposeful, grounded, and award-winning artist?

Melbourne-based portrait artist Vincent Fantauzzo will answer this and many other questions when he visits the Salisbury Community Hub on 25 March 2025 to launch his autobiography, Unveiled.

Attendees will have the opportunity to hear Vincent discuss the journey behind his book and the experiences that shaped his remarkable career. Doors open at 6pm for book purchases, with the event commencing at 6.30pm and concluding at 8pm, when Vincent will be available to sign purchased copies.

This is a great opportunity to hear directly from Vincent as he shares insights into his creative journey. From a rebellious youth to becoming one of Australia’s most celebrated portrait artists, Vincent’s story is breathtaking. We are thrilled to have Vincent join us on 25 March.

Known for his exceptional talent, Vincent has won the Doug Moran National Portrait Prize twice, the Archibald People's Choice Award four times, and the Archibald Packing Room Prize.

Unveiled details his extraordinary journey – from being expelled from school at fourteen and later diagnosed with severe dyslexia, to becoming one of Australia’s most successful portrait artists. His story is one of resilience, honesty, and transformation, recounting a childhood marked by poverty, bullying, and a strained relationship with his father. Today, he is a devoted father, husband to actor Asher Keddie, and an internationally recognised artist.

Vincent’s passion for art was first encouraged by the late Jack Rennie, a renowned Essendon boxing coach, who recognised his talent and helped him pursue his dreams. This encouragement led Vincent to art school, ultimately earning a Master’s in Fine Art from RMIT University in Melbourne.

His career-defining moment came with a tragic turn. As a friend of the late Australian actor Heath Ledger, Vincent was finalising a portrait of him when Ledger passed away. With the blessing of Ledger’s father, Kim, the portrait was entered into the Archibald People’s Choice Award in 2008, earning Vincent his first major win and catapulting his career.
