Water Quality Update - Cascades, Mawson Lakes
Council has taken a number of measures this week to counteract a deterioration in the condition of water at a local shallow lake.
Earlier this month a change in water colour and odour was detected as a result of a naturally occurring event caused by a combination of hot weather and a build up of leaves and other debris.
In order to boost water quality and the aquatic system, Council has installed a water aerator (pictured) which helps to increase the amount of oxygen in the water.
The cube-shaped water features at the site have also been reactivated and will further assist with aeration.
Other measures put in place include adding additional water into the lake to dilute and refresh it.
The lake is continuing to show signs of improvement and Council will continue to monitor the water quality on a daily basis via testing.
