Streetscape Renewal Program

Streets selected for renewal 2022/2023

  • Boyara Crescent, Paralowie
  • Golden Court, Paralowie
  • Jolsen Street, Salisbury Downs
  • Venlo Court, Salisbury Downs

In June 2022, Council conducted an initial community consultation (Stage 1) to obtain background information on how the existing streetscape of the selected streets was viewed by its residents, and what they would like to see included as part of the future renewal.

Following the initial Stage 1 consultation, together with technical requirements for the street, draft concept plans were developed and distributed to the community for feedback, as part of Stage 2 consultation (12 July to 2 September 2022).

Community feedback informed the Streetscape Renewal planning process, resulting in the development of streetscape designs ready for construction.

New street trees

A selection of street trees was proposed for each street, from which the following options were selected by residents:

(please note that the resident selected Ivory Curl Tree is unavailable at the time of planting, the Qld Box Tree was the runner up)

What is the Streetscape Renewal Program?

Streetscapes within the City of Salisbury form an integral part of the character and public spaces of our City.

A key pillar of the City of Salisbury’s City Plan 2035 is the Building City Pride Strategy, which through the Streetscape Renewal Program, aims to deliver enhancements to selected streets of Council that will enhance and beautify the City.

The long-term planning and investment of this Program is essential to the continued sustainability of the City of Salisbury’s neighbourhoods for the next 50 years.

Why do we need streetscape renewal?

Streetscape renewal is an opportunity to ensure that new streetscapes meet current design standards and community expectations, providing spaces that:

  • are safe for vehicles, pedestrians, and cyclists
  • are inclusive and encourage use by people with a range of abilities
  • consider the environment and sustainability, designed for a changing climate
  • help communities remain connected to their local neighbourhood
remain consistent with the heritage and character of the wider City area
  • are low-maintenance and allow Council and utility providers to preserve their assets
  • increase greening and canopy cover, while replacing aging/inappropriate street trees
