PFAS
In November 2016, The Australian Government Department of Defence commenced detailed environmental investigation to identify the nature and extent of per- and poly-fluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) on, and in the vicinity of, RAAF Base Edinburgh-base.
The objective of this environmental investigation is to identify the nature and extent of PFAS in the environment from the use of legacy firefighting foam at the Base.
In November, 2018, Parafield Airport Ltd, which manages Parafield Airport, announced it would be assessing and monitoring PFAS contamination on airport property, also a result of historical fire fighting activities.
